Scope and Contents

This volume contains Rehn's field notes from his 1956 Orthoptera survey (pages 1 to 88). Journal entries date from July 27th to September 25th. Rehn began collecting on August 1st in Yanktown, South Dakota. Over the course of the month of August, the survey continued through the Dakotas, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, California, Utah and Arizona. Rehn then spent two weeks at the American Museum of Natural History's Southwestern Research Station in Portal, Arizona, and collected in that vicinity during that time. The survey continued into New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma, ending on September 20th in Vinita, Oklahoma.

Pages 141 to 143 contain a list of color exposures; pages 147 to 148 contain list of camera exposures; and pages 150 to 152 contain a travel itinerary.

A typed travel itinerary on a loose sheet of paper was found folded in this volume. It has been re-housed and is described separately.
