The Academic Council was established by President James Creese in 1960 to coordinate university-wide academic policies. Dr. William A. Pearson [1871-1959] was a professor of biological chemistry and physiology, and Dean of Students at Hahnemann Medical College. He began teaching at the college in 1906 as Head of the Chemistry Department, and continued in this role until 1948.
