Identifier: UR-06-002

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of handbooks and guides used to educate incoming students about Drexel, from 1925-2006. Guides contain school rules and regulations; information about student organizations, athletics, and academic life; event calendars; and details about the surrounding Philadelphia area. Additionally, earlier guides included sections that describe extra restrictions for women students.

The collection is divided into three series: Student Handbooks, Drexel Evening College Student Guides, and Other Guides. The first series, Student Handbooks, contains official student handbooks, rules and regulations, and undergraduate student handbooks from 1925 to 2005. The second series is Drexel Evening College Student Guides from 1950 to 1986, as well as guides specifically for seniors. The third series, Other Drexel Guides, contains booklets on various aspects of Drexel student life from 1944 to 2006. Of note are guides geared towards female students and their expected behavior, dress, and manners; as well as a poster entitled Big Cheeses & Little Cheeses that depicts top Drexel administrators with cartoon bodies, including President William Walsh Hagerty.
