Harry Conrad Rippel (1926-2004) worked as a principal engineer at Franklin Institute Research Laboratory from 1952 to 1984 and was a leading authority on tribology, the study of friction, wear, lubrication, and the design of bearings. The collection consists of the contents of a metal-encased time capsule that was found behind the Kelly Hall cornerstone during renovations in the 2021-2022 winter.
