Scope and Contents

This collection consists of photographs of instructors, students, and classrooms in the Department of Domestic Science and Arts. Also included are photos taken in Wissahickon Creek and three team pictures from the women's basketball team. Identified faculty and students in the collection include: Albert P. Brubaker, Ellen Morris, Katherine J. Coolidge, Helen M. Spring, Anna Anthony, Maude G. Hopkins.

Scope and Contents

Photographs depicting Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania (WMCP), 1930 commencement (the first year in the "new" building, and commencement, 1957-59. Five postcards from Emilie Bretthauer (WMCP 1904) sent from China where she was a medical missionary, 1906 and undated; three postcards of archival photographs from the Archives collection, produced by the Archives in 1982.

Abstract Doctor Sophie Trent (b. 1917) was an internist who practiced medicine from 1943 to 1987. She practiced in Connecticut, Florida, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas. During her Caribbean years, Trent worked with patients who were afflicted with elephantiasis, liver fluke disease and other tropical parasites. This collection, which dates from 1924 to 1989, houses records related to Trent's medical education and her research on tropical diseases from the 1940s to 1960s. There are also...
