This collection consists of more than 18,000 incoming letters receieved by the Academy betwen 1812 and 1920 and assembled by corresponding secretaries, Edward J. Nolan and James A. G. Rehn. A separate card index file assembled circa 1963 and arranged by last name of correspondent provides summary details about most letters.
