Scope and Contents

As a young naturalist, the author showed marked interest in birds and mammals, working, in the Academy, with Witmer Stone. Later his interest was primarily in insects where it became centered on Orthoptera. These letters are written to Witmer Stone, mostly while on field trips in western U. So and Central America. They contain descriptions of the country traveled, details about naturalists met en route and lists of specimens taken.
