Biography

Dr. Arthur P. Joblin was a Drexel alumnus twice over and a faculty member in Drexel's Department of Physics from 1961 to 2003.

Joblin was born on April 5, 1939 in Philadelpia and attended Olney High School. He earned a BS in Physics from Drexel in 1961, an MA in Theoretical Physics from Temple University in 1964, and a PhD in Experimental Nuclear Physics from Drexel in 1969.

Immediately after completing his undergraduate degree, Joblin was hired as an Instructor in the Physics Department, a position he held until 1967 when he became Assistant Professor of Physics. He held a number of administrative positions at Drexel, including Dean of Students (1975-1977) and Vice President for Student Affairs (1977-1989).

Joblin's professional memberships included the American Association of Physics Teachers, the Eastern Association of College Deans, the National Association of Foreign Student Advisors, and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

His community involvement included: -member of synagogue Congregation B'Nai Torah; served as Treasurer and Member of the Board 1971-1974 -elected Exploring Chairman of the Exploring Division, Boy Scouts of America, 1979 -Act 101 Program, a state-funded affirmative action program -University City High School Computer Courses -Motivation, Application, Preparation (MAP) program at West Philadelphia High School -Minorities Interested in Technology and Engineering (MITE) program -International House, elected to board of trustees in 1981
