Scope and Contents These petitions and resolutions are close pieces, possibly written by the person proposing the action, as a note for the secretary when copying his minutes. Most of them are transcribed into the Minutes of the Academy but oftentimes changed in wording or intent. Overview Joseph Mellick Leidy (1823-1891), one of the great American scientists of the 19th century, possessed a vast knowledge of the natural world.
