"Mrs. John Littleton, great-granddaughter of Charles Darwin, inherited this chair from Down House, Darwin's home in Kent, England, through her family. She presented it to the Academy on the occasion of "Darwin Day," sponsored by the Friends of the Library, of the Academy."
