Scope and Contents This commonplace book, consisting of approximately 430 pages of entries on natural history subjects, is attributed to Joshua Spencer of Essex, England. Although the bulk of the manuscript is written in the same hand, various pages throughout are signed by others indicating there may be multiple authors.
