Overview

This collection contains records of the fundraising activities of the Drexel Institute and Drexel University from 1953-1982. The collection includes records from the Three Quarter Century Fund, the Peaks of Progress Campaign, external and internal studies and reports, as well as the correspondence of presidents James Creese and William Hagerty.

Abstract Four presidents of Drexel University are represented in the collection: James Creese (1896-1966, president 1945-1963), William Walsh Hagerty (1916-1986, president 1963-1984), William Samuel Gaither (b. 1932, president 1984-1987), and Richard Breslin (b. 1937 or 1938, president 1988-1994). Overview This collection consists chiefly of a set of subject files on organizations, university offices and departments, special projects, and administrative topics compiled by Drexel's ninth president, William S. Gaither. The collection also contains a record of Dr. Gaither's outgoing correspondence from June 1984 to December 1986 and a box of certificates presented to him at his inauguration held in 1985.
