Scope and Contents Lacking the title-page, one can only assume by various physical characteristics, that this volume may be the 1630 edition. The "Krauterbuch" was published in a great many editions, but only when it was revised and published in a great many editions, but only when it was revised and published jointly with Peter Uffenbach in 1630 was it enlarged to 750 pages, the number which was orginally in this volume. Son of John Thomas Gulick, the missionary and evolutionist. Two letters, one to accompany rare papers of John T. Gulick which were sent to H. A. Pilsbry, the second presenting a copy of the biography of his father to the library of the Academy.

Scope and Contents Naturalist, missionary, lecturer and suffragist, Miss Fielde's letters are mostly written to Edward J. Nolan, former librarian of the Academy, dated from China, Europe, New York and Seattle, Washington. She was an Academy member, working h e r e a s a Jessup student in 1884, then going to China as a missionary where she continued studies in natural history. African Batiks

Scope and Contents

This collection contains two seperate African animal Batiks. One of the batiks has a redish hue and the other blue. Batiks refer to a cloth that traditionally uses a manual wax-resist dyeing technique. In October of 2009, UNESCO designated that Batiks are a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. A label accompanies the batiks that read: African Animal Batiks colored dyes on cotton, 1970, Gift of Mrs. Thomas Raeburn White.
