Henry A. Pilsbry's Leather Case

This leather briefcase belonged to Henry Augustus Pilsbry while he worked at the Academy of Natural Sciences. The leather briefcase must be handled with care. It is fragile, torn, and folded in half. The leather has torn away from the stitching on the bottom sides of the case. The zipper is undone and a small tagged attached reads: Dr. Henry A. Pilsbry @ 2244 Franklin Avenue, Morton, Pennsylvania.

Inuit Statue

This statue is of three inuit tribe members and a bear. The statue is made from Soapstone. The statue once belonged to the Academy of Natural Sciences Gift Shop and was set to be sold. Since it was not sold at first, the Women's Committee at the Academy purchased the statue following an exhibition on Inuits and Alaska.

Overview John Percy Moore (1869-1965) was a Professor of Zoology at the University of Pennsylvania from 1912 to 1939, an Assistant Curator at the Academy of Natural Sciences from 1902 to 1938, and held several positions between 1920 and 1956 at the Ludwick Institute, which offered free lectures and courses in the natural sciences. The medals were given to the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia by outside institutions including the International Congress of Americanists, The Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters, and the Academie Royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique.
