Content Description
The collection documents William Rochford's engineering studies at the Drexel Institute and to a lesser extent his career. It includes a three-ring bound notebook that is titled “Graphic Statics,” dated September 1921, and contains charts, equations, diagrams, notes, and blueprints from or connected with his Drexel coursework. A section of the notebook contains notes from work that he did in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1925-1926 as an employee of F. Ferdinand Durang. The collection also includes eight pages of a smaller ring-bound notebook that also contain notes, diagrams, and equations related to structural engineering, and photocopies of a Drexel report card or course transcript, a 1935 job application, and a 1942 War Department personnel placement questionnaire.

Biographical note
William J. Rochford was born in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, in 1897. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1917 to 1919. He attended Drexel Institute from 1919 to 1922, probably the Evening College, and majored in structural engineering. From 1919 on he worked as an engineer, manager, and property inspector for various employers.
