This collection consists of records created by Richard W. Schneider in three administrative positions at Drexel: Vice President for Research, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Senior Vice President for Administration. It includes his official correspondence; two sets of subject files, one that spans Dr. Schneider's tenure at Drexel (containing some reports that predate his tenure) and one relating to academic affairs; and a set of files on specific departments and offices and their personnel. Also found in the collection are a set of records of the Deans' Rolling Agenda, materials on Drexel president William Gaither, and notes from vice presidents' meetings from 1985 to 1989.

This collection is arranged into three series. The first series, Correspondence, is arranged chronologically and the three subseries are each administrative position Schneider held during his tenure at Drexel: Vice President for Research, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Senior Vice President for Administration. Each file contains a subject list of names and subjects covered within the correspondence.

The second series, Departments, colleges and offices, contains mostly correspondence and memos to and from Dr. Schneider. Order among the personnel files is difficult to ascertain, but appears to be based on the University's administrative hierarchy, and by college or department. Most of the files contain smaller subfolders on individual professors or other personnel.

The third series, Subject files, is arranged alphabetically; however, portions of the collection have been separated from each other at times, so the order does not entirely overlap. There is only one subseries, Academic affairs, which contains files specifically related to academic affairs, mostly created during Schneider's time as the Vice President for that office.
