Biographical / Historical
The Portrait Collection is an artificial collection compiled by Academy librarians and archivists over a long stretch of time. The photographs, prints, etc., have been culled from numerous accessions and collections already in the archives. Some photographs were requested or transferred with the specific purpose of being added to the collection. The collection was created with continuous accrual in mind. The last addition to the collection seems to have been in the 1980s or early 1990s. The collection is now closed and no new additions will be made.
