Philadelphia diatomist, elected to the Academy of Natural Sciences, February, 1892, and active in the Leidy Microscopical Society. Scrapbook contains orders and letters pertaining to his book: The Diatomaceae of Philadelphia and vicinity, as well as letters of condolence addressed to Mrs. Boyer. Many items (47) were laid in and are filed separately.

Gift of Mrs. Boyer in 1928, preserved by the Leidy Microscopical Society, later stored in the Limnology Department and archived in November, 1960.
