Corresponding Member Printing Block, 1859-1862
Scope and Contents
This collection contains two printing blocks from the American Entomological Society. The large printing block was made from a sketch of the same design. The large printing block is to create certificates for members of the society. A metal printing plate is attached to a wooden block for support. The printing plate reads: The American Entomological Society Philadelphia. There are twelve names that make up the border of the printing block. The names are: Cresson, Uhler, Fitch, Edwards, Harris, Horn, Say, LeConte, Haldeman, Melsheimer, Scudder, and Norton. The small printing block is a seperate piece that slides into a hole in the larger printing block. There is the original sketch from the creation of the printing blocks and a contemporary duplicate of the certificate.
