Scope and Contents On October 1, 1891, a rorqual whale was cast up on the beach at Ocean City, New Jersey, was photographed by Joseph P. Remington and later described by E. D, Cope. This skeleton, along with other type specimens of whales occupied a great deal of space in the Academy and in 1951 it was planned to transfer them to some other museum in the United States. Scope and Contents

A entomologist, Dr. Roberts served the Academy in many capacities from 1930 through his death in 1982: trustee, managing director 1947-1972, and associate curator of the Entomology Department. This collection includes a typescript draft of 14 pages headed "Federal Support and Private Msueums," and a manuscript notebook of 61 pages on the osteology of birds, illustrated with pencil drawings.

Found in the Malacology Dept. in 1982 and transferred to the Academy archives.

Scope and Contents This is a collection of papers of H. Radclyffe Roberts. Materials include: professional correspondence (incoming and outgoing) with colleagues in the United States, Mexico, and South America. Many of the letters discuss the study and exchange of specimens of orthoptera. Other correspondence is related to an atlas of mosquitoes, and other publications. Scope and Contents

Linton, a Philadelphia judge, was Academy president from 1951 to 1962. Collection consists of letter to incoming president George Clark dated Oct. 10, 1962; 11p. typescript headed "East African Wildlife Revisited, M. Albert Linton"; and 2 covering notes signed H. R[adclyffe] R[oberts] transmitting items to Academy library.

Transferred to Academy archives in 1962.
