Biographical Note

Irma A. Schultz joined Drexel's public relations department in 1925 as a secretary, and was the director of public relations when she retired in 1945. She was born in 1894 in what was then Norriton Township, near Norristown, PA. The site of the Schultz family farm is now located in East Norriton Township. She attended the Norriton Township public school and graduated from Perkiomen Seminary in 1912. She then completed a degree at Peirce Business College in 1918. Following her graduation, she worked as secretary to the headmaster of the Perkiomen Seminary from 1919 to 1924 before her career at Drexel. Following her retirement she lived with her sister Christine Schultz Shearer in Worcester and started an antiques business. She passed away in 1980. Irma was a member of the Central Schwenkfelder Church, Worcester, where she served as a deaconess, and was also chairwoman of the publicity committee for the ladies' aid society.
