Overview
Joseph Mellick Leidy (1823-1891), one of the great American scientists of the 19th century, possessed a vast knowledge of the natural world. Best known as the Father of American vertebrate paleontology, he also pioneered the fields of parasitology and protozoology, and was the preeminent anatomist of his time. Scope and Contents
In April, 1889 the Provost of the University, William Pepper sent to the officers of the Academy an invitation to move their institution to the campus of the University. The Academy's Council considered the proposal, disapproved it, and reported its reasons in detail to the Academy's membership. The members, agreeing with the council, voted against the move.
