Scope and Contents

Ornithologist, mammalogist and explorer, Allen's letters primarily pertain to vertebrate zoology. His position as president of the American Ornithologists' Union required correspondence with other officers, including the editor of The Auk. The bulk of the letters were addressed to Witmer Stone and concern the Code of Nomenclature and other business of the Union.
