Scope and Contents Lyon, an 18th century plant explorer and horticuluralist , made field trips primarily to the Appalachian regions. He is buried in Asheville, North Carolina. The journal he kept on ten trips, 1799-1814, is in the library of the American Philosophical Society, Philadelphia.
