Overview Dr. Amos Russell Thomas [1827-1895] was a surgeon and prominent professor of anatomy. He was born and resided in New York until he relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1854. There he was appointed to be a demonstrator of anatomy at the Pennsylvania Medical University, and was Chair of Anatomy from 1856 to 1866.
