Beaver Coal Company records
The Beaver Coal Corporation (later Beaver Coal Company, Limited) was co-founded by Anthony J. Drexel, Logan Bullitt, and J.P. Morgan sometime after 1889. It owned land in Raleigh County, West Virginia, and leased coal mining and logging rights to other companies. Later, the company also leased natural gas reserves and leased portions of its surface property for farming, commercial, and individual use. The records include Board of Directors minutes, 1908-1959, and a ledger, 1942-1947.
Estate of Anthony J. Drexel records
Following Anthony J. Drexel’s death in 1893, his estate was managed by a group of trustees for over half a century. The Estate of Anthony J. Drexel records include ledgers and other account books for the estate as a whole and for the individual trusts that were set up for Drexel’s descendants in accordance with his will.
